Commission Terms

By commissioning Sable Studios, you confirm you've read and agreed to these terms. The version in force is the one published when your commission is accepted. I may update these terms as the studio grows.

01 — The right to decline

I'm a one-doberman studio and I want the work to stay something I genuinely enjoy. So I keep the right to refuse, decline, or stop any commission at any time — including for these reasons:

  • The request falls outside what I take on (see Section 03).
  • My books are full, or the timeline isn't realistic.
  • I don't feel I can hit the quality the work deserves.
  • Conduct. I'll happily work with lovely people all day. If someone's rude, hostile, pushy, dishonest, or treats me like rubbish, I'll step away — no exceptions.

If I end a commission early, you'll get a refund for the work not yet done (see Section 08). If I decline before any payment or work, nothing's owed either way. I'll always aim to be polite about it — I just won't always explain in detail.

02 — What I make

I take on complete avatar commissions only — the whole thing, from texture work through Unity setup to the finished VRChat upload. I don't sell the stages on their own (no texturing-only jobs, and no refitting onto an avatar someone else built).

Currently offered: Full avatar commissions — a complete build: texture work, Unity setup, optimisation (PC and/or Quest), toggles & gimmicks, PhysBones, and a clean VRChat upload. Every avatar ships with my clean menu standard — menus reorganised into Gimmicks · Clothing · Body · Adult (separate menu, only if requested).

Coming soon: Blender services (clothing refitting and asset work), and marketplace & pre-made products via my Jinxxy storefront (separate terms apply — see Section 15).

03 — What I will & won't take on

Yes:

  • Full VRChat avatar commissions (PC and/or Quest), as described above.
  • Original character / fursona design as part of a build.
  • Work using assets you legally own — bring proof of purchase if I ask.
  • Adult / 18+ content on request only, subject to Section 11.

No:

  • Anything using assets you don't own — pirated, ripped, leaked, or "found" bases, textures, or clothing.
  • Requests to rip, steal, decompile, or reverse-engineer someone else's avatar or assets.
  • Anything illegal, or that sexualises, depicts, or implies minors — zero exceptions.
  • Hateful, extremist, or harassing content.
  • Real, identifiable people depicted without their consent.
  • Anything I judge, at my discretion, to be unethical or harmful.

If a commission turns out to rely on assets you don't own, work stops until that's resolved, and I may decline under Section 01.

04 — Pricing & payment

Not because I don't trust you — but "I'll pay when it's done" has burned me before, and a fixed payment link means nobody can pay a fraction of a job and wander off.

  • Prices are in GBP and currently run £90 (base) to £150, depending on complexity. You get a custom quote before booking.
  • Payment is taken via Revolut Pro (payment link or invoice). PayPal also accepted on request.
  • Work doesn't begin until payment lands. I take either full payment up front, or a deposit before starting with the balance due before final files. The split is confirmed in your quote.
  • The amount on the invoice/link is the amount due. Partial or "rounded-down" payments don't count, and work won't start.
  • Deposits cover the slot I reserve for you and are non-refundable once work has begun (see Section 08).
  • Any fees, currency conversion, or platform charges on your end are yours to cover.

05 — How a commission runs

  1. We agree the brief — scope, references, and price.
  2. You pay (deposit or in full) and your slot is booked.
  3. I share WIP updates at key stages for your feedback.
  4. Final files are delivered (balance cleared first, if a deposit was taken) and the commission is complete.

Please reply to WIP checks within a reasonable time. If a commission goes quiet on your end for an extended period with no contact, I may treat it as abandoned, keep work already paid for, and release the slot.

Final files: You hold the right to request the final assets. They're delivered via a time-limited storage link you have three (3) days to download before it expires. Grab and back them up promptly — re-issuing an expired link may carry a small fee, and I'm not obliged to store project files indefinitely. Keep your own backups once delivered.

06 — Updates & revisions

  • Small tweaks during the WIP stages are a normal part of the build.
  • Because a commission is a real investment, two free updates are included with every finished avatar.
  • After those, further updates are £25–£30 each, depending on the work involved.
  • Major changes to an already-agreed brief (full redesigns, new scope) count as an update or, if substantial, a new commission.

07 — Turnaround & delays

  • Any timeframe I give is an estimate, not a guarantee.
  • Delays happen — scope changes, slow replies, real life, or platform/SDK issues outside my control. I'll keep you posted if something slips.
  • Got a hard deadline? Tell me up front so I can say whether it's realistic.

08 — Cancellations & refunds

  • You cancel before work begins: full refund of anything paid.
  • You cancel after work begins: refund of the portion not yet worked on; the deposit and completed work are non-refundable.
  • I cancel or can't finish: refund for the work not delivered. If I've delivered nothing, you're fully refunded.
  • Refunds go back via the original payment method where possible.

09 — Ownership, licensing & third-party assets

  • You commission the work for your personal use as the end user.
  • You're responsible for owning valid licences for every third-party asset — base, textures, clothing, accessories, shaders. I may ask for proof, and I won't proceed with assets you can't show you own.
  • I keep ownership of my original work, custom textures, and the methods I use. Commissioning me doesn't transfer my underlying IP or grant resale rights.
  • Asset creators' own licences (Booth, Jinxxy, Gumroad, etc.) sit on top of these terms — if theirs is stricter, theirs wins.

10 — Redistribution, leaks & ripping

  • The finished avatar and its files are for you only. No reselling, trading, sharing, redistributing, or public release of the work or any part of it.
  • Ripping, leaking, or distributing commissioned work or its assets is strictly prohibited and may be pursued — including reports to the relevant platforms and asset creators.
  • I may apply protective measures (e.g. leak-tracking) to delivered work. Where this materially affects the avatar (such as added file size), I'll tell you before delivery.

11 — 18+ content

  • Adult content is offered on request only, to verified adults aged 18+. By requesting it, you confirm you are 18 or over.
  • All characters depicted in adult content are adults (18+). I will not create, imply, or work around anything that sexualises minors, and I won't produce anything illegal. Such a request ends the commission immediately.
  • Adult content ships in a separate, clearly-labelled menu, toggled off by default, in line with my clean menu standard.
  • You're responsible for using it in line with VRChat's Terms of Service.

12 — Portfolio & credit

  • I may show finished work in my portfolio and on social unless we agree otherwise in advance.
  • Need your commission kept private? Ask before booking; a privacy/NDA arrangement may carry a small fee.
  • Credit's appreciated but not required of you. Please don't pass my work off as your own.

13 — VRChat platform & technical reality

  • VRChat and its SDK change often. I can't guarantee features work forever — platform updates outside my control can break things.
  • Breakage from VRChat/SDK changes, third-party tool updates, or edits made by you or others after delivery isn't covered by the original commission. I'm happy to quote a paid fix.
  • Unless we agree otherwise, you upload the avatar to your own account and keep it compliant with VRChat's Terms of Service.

14 — Chargebacks & disputes

  • By paying, you accept these terms.
  • A fraudulent chargeback or dispute after delivery is treated as theft. I keep full records — brief, invoice, messages, delivery confirmation — and will contest it with that evidence.
  • Anyone who attempts a fraudulent chargeback may be blacklisted from future commissions.

15 — Marketplace & pre-made products (coming soon)

  • Pre-made assets, edits, and digital products sold through my Jinxxy storefront are separate from custom commissions.
  • Those are governed by the licence on each listing and the marketplace's own terms, which take precedence for those items.
  • This document covers bespoke, made-to-order commission work.
